Obituary for Phyllis Yvonne Crowther (Hiscott)

CROWTHER, Phyllis Yvonne passed away peacefully on September 16, 2021 in her 95th year. Born on May 6, 1927 to parents Clifford and Phyllis Hiscott, Phyllis was a proud member of the McNab community her entire life. She was predeceased by her husband of 74 years, William Crowther, in November 2019. She is survived by sons Charles Dennis, and Roger William (Diane), daughter Sally Ann Kolovos (Engelo), and brother-in-law Douglas Crowther. She will be sadly missed by grandchildren Harley, Hayley, Amalia, Eleni, Yanni, and Sofia, and great-grandchildren Harley and Nash.

Phyllis cared deeply for her family, neighbors and community, and was always generous with both her time and talents. She drove a service truck collecting blood for the Red Cross during WWII, taught at the YMCA and was a member of the Anglican Church Women. An accomplished homemaker, every corner of her home and cottage was filled with her artistic endeavours including sewing, painting, weaving, furniture and braided rugs. An avid music lover, Phyllis enjoyed singing on Sundays and tried hard not to miss church service at McNab. She always had a piano in her home and would play tunes by ear for hours on end. She will be remembered for her sunny disposition, as bright as the daffodils that decorated her front garden each Spring.

There will be a private service for family members held outside Christ Church McNab, 1294 McNab Rd., Niagara-on-the-Lake, at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 24th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice, or Christ Church McNab.
