Obituary for Kenneth Joseph Hummell

Hummell, Kenneth Joseph
January 15, 1925 – Nov 26, 2022

Ken Hummell passed away on November 26,2022 at Niagara Ina Grafton Gage Village in St. Catharines. He was 97 years old and is survived by daughter Ann Dandy (John 2002), son Doug (Judy), grandchildren Alex, Emily (Sean Privensal), Katherine Dandy (Dave Chadwick), and his first great grandchild Benjamin Privensal. Dad is also survived by his dear brother Butch who faithfully visited Dad while he was residing at Ina Grafton.
Dad was the oldest of four brothers born to Alec and Inez Hummell. The boys always called each other by their nicknames. Dad was Governor. Leon was Butch. Bill was Ham, and Bob, being the youngest, was Babe. During their adult lives, a cross word never passed between them.
Dad served in the US Army from February of 1943 until April of 1946. He came home to Welland to his sweetheart Margaret Sneath and they were happily married until Mom passed in 2018. They enjoyed a long and active retirement, travelling extensively and never missing anything involving the grandchildren.

Dad suffered a fall in 2017 and had resided in Long Term Care at Ina Grafton since January of 2018. We visited him constantly, and can attest to the care, attention and affection he received from all of the staff. There are too many to name, but everyone including the nurses, care workers, cleaners, kitchen staff and laundry staff were all wonderful.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Passfield Mortuary Services Inc. Cremation has taken place. A committal will take place in the future. Dad always gave donations to the Salvation Army. When he was young the brothers would attend a service there on Sundays after which they’d be given a bat, ball, and gloves to go play baseball. Dad never forgot.
