Obituary for Keith Edward Holmes

HOLMES, Keith Edward
May, 1943 - December, 2022

It is with great sadness the family of Keith Edward Holmes announce his passing at the St. Catharines General Hospital on December 25, 2022 at the age of 79. He is Predeceased by his parents Arthur George Holmes (1997) and Evelyn Ethel Holmes (nee Kelley, 2005). Keith will be missed by his siblings Scott (Ellen) Holmes of St. Anns, Ross (Diane) Holmes of Niagara-on-the-Lake and his devoted sister Barbara Holmes of St. Catharines. Keith will also be missed by his longtime companion Phyllis Clarkson of St. Catharines and is survived by many nephews. Keith was an intelligent man, having multiple degrees. He had a Master of Arts in Economics, Econometrics Labour Studies, Health Care Economics from Queen's University in 1971. He also acquired a Master's of Education (Administration & Curriculum Design) from Brock University in 1988. Using his education, Keith was welcomed to China to teach English for two separate terms. Keith was also involved within the community spending a decade as a volunteer with St. Catharines/Thorold Community Care from 1988- 1998. Keith was a quiet man who overcame many health challenges over the years He was very resilient. He always had a positive outlook despite the difficulties, he never complained and always welcomed life with a smile. He enjoyed his walks and getting out for exercise, music and appreciated going out for a good meal. He enjoyed social gatherings including the annual Kelley family reunion for many years. He enjoyed traveling, and spent time living in Gibraltar, London, and enjoyed living and observing other cultures. He found delight in doing his daily Crossword scratch tickets! As per Keith's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to PASSFIELD MORTUARY SERVICES INC. (905) 682 0474. A private family interment will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery at a later date. If desired, and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Lung Association in Keith's name would be appreciated by his family.
