October 5, 1929 – May 30, 2021
With heavy hearts, the family of Dave Williams announce his passing on May 30, 2021 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, in his 92nd year, with his wife Nancy at his side.
Dave was born in Edmonton Alberta and lived in Egremont Alberta where he attended school. After graduating from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Calgary, Dave began a life-long career in the oil and gas industry. His career took him to the USA, North Africa and South America (Peru and Bolivia) where he worked in the Sahara sands and the tropical jungle. In those travels of his career, many treasured friends were made.
Dave is survived by his wife Nancy of 51 years, beloved daughter Shannon (Michael), grandchildren Mikayla and Lucas. Dave is also survived by sons Wayne (Linda) and their family, and Tim, pre-deceased by Garry (2005).
Dave loved a good game of euchre and took the opportunity to play whenever that opportunity came. He never had time for hobbies but enjoyed vegetable gardening, growing roses, tending his flower beds and manicuring the lawn. Dave built bird houses and strategically placed them in Walker’s Creek Park along the fence line where many birds claimed these properties as their own.
When Dave retired, he and Nancy returned to St Catharines from Calgary where he could do those things he enjoyed. In his retirement, Dave became the family chef, chauffer, gardener and always best friend of Nancy.
Over the years, many of Dave’s Alberta family took the time out of their lives to visit and rekindle family ties. These were very special to him and he was grateful to them for this.
Thanks to Dr. D. Vujosevic, Lesa, Dr. Blair Leonard, Dr. M. Shaik and the Palliative Care team at the LHIN (Beth, Rhonda, Georgina, Sally and Merick) who were entrusted with his care. Special thanks to the nursing staff at the SCGH 3B and GNGH – Trillium who were exceptional in their ‘care and comfort’ during Dave’s last journey.
A tree will be planted in Walker’s Creek Park in Dave’s memory.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to PASSFIELD MORTUARY SERVICES (905) 682 0474. Because of COVID-19 government restrictions, a celebration of Dave’s life will be held at a later date once we are able to gather.
