Obituary for Bob Tweney

Robert John Charles Tweney
(Aug. 23, 1944 – Aug. 11, 2021)

After a long but brave battle with Alzheimer’s disease, Bob Tweney passed away peacefully, with his wife and children by his side. In departing for his eternal home to be with our heavenly Father, Bob leaves behind his dedicated wife of 55 years Donna Tweney, loving son Greg Tweney (Valerie), precious daughter Debbie Ritchie (Philip) and five special grandchildren: Meagan and Allison Tweney, Brittany, Cole and Madison Ritchie.

Bob will be missed by his siblings Richard Tweney (Hélène Vachon), Mary Ann Collyer (Don), Susan Tweney, and Joann Tweney, sister-in-law Heather Hurst (Gary Drouin) and brother-in-law Wray Hurst, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, neighbours and his church family at Westburne Alliance Church.

Bob thoroughly loved spending time with children, serving in both the classroom and the library over the course of his 30-year teaching career. He encouraged children to read, learn, and have fun, and he always shared positive ways to grow.

During his retirement, Bob continued to demonstrate his passion for children, education, and leadership by teaching Sunday School, “Kids’ Klub”, and Vacation Bible School, serving on the Board of Elders and occasionally preaching.

Many thanks to the entire staff at Linhaven Long Term Care Home for the kind care you gave Bob, as well as your thoughtful support of our family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Linhaven Home, The Alzheimer’s Society or Westburne Alliance Church. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date.
